Top Five Features Next Generation Consoles Should Have
With the next generation of consoles almost upon us, everyone is wondering what they will have inside of them. While hardware no doubt makes a great console, what about features? What about improvements that make the act of playing games more fun. No one knows what the features will be, but lets explore some that should be.

5.) Be able to play game without DVD
Now that we can install games to a hard drive why do we still need the dvd to play? Yea piracy blah blah blah, but really has it ever stopped it? Those that pirate still pirate and modded systems are not uncommon. While yes one could say that you could rent a game then return it and still reap the benefits, I’m sure there are ways to add security. Even something as simple as the disc must be checked every few weeks or after a patch would be fine.
I know I’m going to regret saying this, but hell I’d even be ok with this feature being tied to Online Pass. Yea I said it, regret it already.
4.) Full support for all USB keyboards, mice and headsets
This one is a matter of convenience. While a lot of peripherals do work, I have a number of usb headphones that my PS3 and 360 will not accept. Its time for consoles to take one more step toward the PC realm and increase their compatibility. If its USB and relevant to gaming I want it to work. Be that generic usb music players or thumbdrives, make em work!
3.) Universally Unrestricted Voice Chat
I want complete and utter voice chat freedom. I want to be in a 6 man party chat with one person playing Uno, two guys killing in Call of Duty, one guy in Battlefield, another person in Netflix and the last person watching a video. I want it to be fluid and clean and easy. No game should FORCE me out of voice chat, or force me to switch to a private channel. I want to be able to make a persistent chat room that anyone from my friends list can join with no limit. This is another one of those things that’s go under community improvements. And as well, let’s get some cleaner sound on voice chat.
2.) Clan support
This is something that should have been in the last generation. With all the clan tags floating through Call of Duty and other competitive games its foolish that this wasn’t implemented in the first place. A sort of static party in which members can always see the online status of others and arrange invites easier. Maybe even a standing scoreboard in clan for games that support it (COD, Halo are all games that HAVE to support something like that). The one thing consoles are missing is the ability to truly build a community without the need for external web pages. Give gamers clan support and watch online multiplayer expand even farther.
1.) Complete Control Over My Saves
This is the biggest pet peeve of all time. My PlayStation 3 had the Yellow Light Of Death so I figured, Hey, now is the perfect time to get a slim. So I did the same thing I did with my Xbox when I upgraded, pulled out the hard drive and stuck it in the new system. So imagine my surprise when it wanted to REFORMAT MY HARD DRIVE. It’s singlehandlely the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. No more of that shit. Ever. My saves are mine, period. Let me swap hard drives, transfer saves with NO bs. No protected or restricted saves either. Sony still owes me a completed save of Demon’s Souls.
